Clinical information The major cause of spontaneous abortions is chromosomal aberration appearing in the fetus or the embryo as a result of a de novo mutation. Genetic analysis allows for detection of embryonic gender at a chromosome level, as well as for detection of aneuploidies involving several other chromosomes (13, 16, 18, 21, 22), i.e. Turner syndrome, Down syndrome, Patau syndrome, Edwards syndrome, triploidy, tetraploidy. Overall, these chromosomal aberrations comprise about to 95% of all aberrations detected in spontaneously aborted embryos/fetuses.
